EC2 provides virtual machines. You choose and manage the operating system and application configuration, while AWS manages the underlying physical infrastructure.
ECS orchestrates containers. It can run on EC2 capacity you manage or on Fargate, where AWS manages the compute infrastructure. You still configure containers, permissions, networking, resource limits, and scaling.
Lambda runs functions under its invocation and resource model.
Say: "I would compare duration, traffic, startup latency, isolation, runtime needs, and operating cost. A long-running container service and a short event handler may fit different choices."
