A subject notifies registered observers when something happens. Node's EventEmitter is an in-process example, and its listeners run synchronously when emitted unless they explicitly schedule work.
Pub/Sub uses related ideas but often introduces a broker and different delivery guarantees. Do not infer durable delivery, ordering, or replay from the word "event". Remove subscriptions when their owner is disposed.
